Now, personally, I haven't read any light novels yet (planning to, but my past experiences with translated fiction haven't been very impressionable), but they seem to be gaining popularity. You might've seen them mixed in with the manga at Borders.
So, light novels are fiction books written in Japan that are intended to be lighter reads. They often have anime-style illustrations and many have been adapted into anime/manga (such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).
Does anyone else think they should have a board/sub-board here? And, if so, where would we classify it? (Some possibilities would be putting a sub-board in the Japanese board, making a separate category and board for it, changing the Graphic Novels category to just Novels and making a board for it there, etc.)

<------Has never heard about light novels before
but, I suppose it would make sense to make a sub-board for it

Sounds legit, however i also have never heard of them before so it might just end up being a dead thread.

Never heard of light novels before!? Not even like... you were browsing the manga at Borders and accidentally found one? Since it seems very few people have heard of them, I guess it probably would be a pretty empty board (but so are the Manhua, Chinese, and Korean ones... >.>)... Maybe I'll just make it a sub-board under Japanese... And then make an "About Light Novels" thread so it won't be completely empty...

Made the light novels board. It's a sub-board in the Japanese board. I'll probably add some threads to it later informing people about what light novels are and some they can read and whatnot.
So, thread locked.

GAH! Wait for meee.... *locked out* Well... If anyone cares to listen to my opinion through the bars of the gate I think we might as well have one. Even if it's not so popular. Instead of Light Novels it can be Novels in general (of Japanese origin of course). So if we change the Graphic Novels board to Novels and then make two sub-categories (Graphic and Written[?]) I think it'd work. Especially since "Written Novels" covers a much broader horizon than "Light novels." Then we could have a sticky thread at the top that explains all the different types of written novels (located in that section) and graphic novels (in that section). Actually, I think it'd be nice to have a thread in each board explaining what can be in that board. For people who might not know and just may have found a new interest... *more work* ...ALL THROUGH THE BARS OF COURSE... *ignored*
