Alright, this hasn't been done yet, so I figured I'd go for it now.
1)More quiz games, except with more questions...Max's game idea was good, but needed more questions, and we could expand it to things like a JRPG Quiz or even a JMUSIC quiz.
2)Less split group days...I mean they're really like communism. It seems like a good idea, but it doesn't work in practice. No one does anything and the meeting ends up being a waste of time.
3)Polls at the end of meetings for what to do next meeting...This way we have a group consensus before the meeting as to what everyone wants to do, and we don't have a bunch of people sitting around doing nothing or distracting others
4)E-mails faster...I typically get an E-mail at 9:30 at night...a lot of people aren't checking for an e-mail the night before a meeting, so if at all possible it would be nice if they could be sent out faster or earlier.
That's all I got, so post your suggestions here.

First of all, thanks for starting this thread! And, thank you for the suggestions!
RE: 1/2/3) One of the biggest problems in planning meetings is figuring out how to include more than just anime and manga while not leaving anyone out. That's how the group system idea started. Obviously, no combination of 2-3 groups could cover everything, but it would get a lot closer than just one activity. I see what you're saying about it, but, personally, I think it needs some improvements rather than being scrapped completely. It's pretty clear that the 2-6 girls picking groups only represent a portion of the club's interests. So, more club input on what the groups should be and better organization for each group would probably cut down on the doing nothing.
So, I don't have any objection to more quiz games, but, again, an RPG quiz game would leave out people who don't play RPGs and so on. (Maybe the more specific quiz games could be group activities at some point?)
I think we definitely need more input on planning meetings, whether it's a poll at the end or otherwise. However, if we had to take suggestions and then vote on them, it could really eat into meeting time. Having the poll/suggestions on the forum is another option.
RE: 4) Generally, I sent the e-mails this year out as soon as I got home from Science Olympiad on Monday. They usually went out around 4-5 PM. I sent the one for the last meeting/party out on Sunday night, I think.
My own suggestions:
- Do away with the meetings that are all "er... let's just draw/have an ACen discusstion/etc."
- More member feedback (see: use forum more)
- Use forum more - I really feel like we didn't use it as effectively as possible this year. We (founders) could've done a lot better at keeping it updated and putting information on it.
- Find a balance between group meetings & centralized meetings (i.e. Further Japanese & drawing things are probably better off as small groups, while quiz games and hallway decorating could be centralized meetings)
Questions (for everyone):
- About how often should we watch anime during meetings? I know a lot of anime clubs are just that -- their meetings are to watch anime. Personally, I don't think we should be an all-anime-watching club. But, do you think we should watch anime during meetings more or less often? (We watched anime twice this year: once near the start of 2nd semester and during the end-of-the-year party.)
- What would be your favorite thing to do for a small group activity in JAMM Club? What would be your favorite thing to do as a centralized activity?
- Do you think we should do hallway decorating again? (Suggestions on how to improve this, if yes, would also be very welcome.)

In regards to watching Anime...
We have obviously school appropriate issues when wishing to view anime. However, I believe it would be interesting, if say every other meeting we try to introduce an anime that not a lot of people have seen. We watch an episode(22 minutes aprox.) and then discuss it. While there are a lot of anime that are not appropriate, there are also a lot of anime that ARE(I.e. 4kids dubs of anything, .hack, shaman king, gundam).(note, I do not support 4kids in any way)
Hallway decorating-Eh...could go either way for me on this one. It was alright, but I wouldn't be too upset if it went away either.

i think we should watch a lot more anime. also, i think the split groups are cool and they work sorta kinda!!!! i think we should just improve on them. also, yeah, liike, i dont know anything bout j-pop, so if we do jeopardy JUST bout that i'd fail. we could just make that ONE category i guess, but we'd need to make sure both groups got at least once person w/ SOME knowledge of that category

I like watching more anime but not THAT much...
I mean there are LOTS of other things people like to do (like me for example--drawing, or others even like reading manga, or japanese , or music... just a bunch of stuff)
But i do like the "watch just one episode of a different series every once in a while" idea. That's a great way of broadening horizons since it's different all the time and since they're only 22 minutes, it leaves time to do other things (important announcements, splitting into groups--for those that don't want to discuss and want to do something else afterwars... discussion can be one of the groups...).
But I also like havin the split groups as meetings since it expands it even more... and actually... maybe to make them more efficient, each group can vote on what they want to do the next time they meet... thus making the split groups more efficient.
But we also need centralized meetings once in a while to keep together as a club and/or other important stuff so...
My idea is to do a three-week rotation. Centralized, Anime, Group (whatever order... probably centralized first though since announcements are priority and we'd probably do most of that there)... and that also makes it more interesting by switching it up a lot more. And if members contribute by voting or some such to think of things to do at next meetings then i think the subject matter will be more appealing and more people will be involved.
my last comments are that i don't think there should be too much of one thing though... like, we CAN do quizzes and anime but please, let's not over-do it. (maybe once in a while we can do a centralized quiz that covers many topics and then if individual groups want to make up their own quizzes they can, or we can do quizzes after we watch anime episodes for the remainder of the meeting--they may or may not relate to the anime watched... maybe that can be one of the groups if we decide to do groups after animes/ WHATEVER. it's kinda up for grabs what we wanna do after animes. whatever people prefer... and lastly about animes... i really like the idea of watching short episodes once in a while rather than full out movies because A) allows for more time for other things/mandatory things and B) saves the big awesome movies for special events AKA end of the year party and stuff like that... and C) I already mentioned this but, broadens horizons
that should be it. My comments probably all disorganized and stuff (writing fast), but hopefully you got it.

The problem with each group voting on what they want to do at the next meetings is it seems like people can't switch between groups that way. I really like the idea of having a rotation, though. And I like the idea of watching various anime episodes more often for meetings.

I think the club needs to be able to get the word out more when meetings are. I almost missed the first meeting because the club was never listed on the announcements. I did make the first meeting, though, but there may be more who wanted to join but did not know the basic information.

When on the group activity days, I feel that the groups should be considerate of the other group by quieting down. In the past two group activities that I have attended, one group was so much more nosier and the one group was drowned out. Both groups should be able to hear their own group.
